Description

Gibson Les Paul Darkfire 1st Production Run NEW

The Dark Fire has one Burstbucker 3 humbucker in the bridge position, P-90H at the neck, and a special Tronical designed piezoelectric tune-o-matic sits in the place of the bridge. The Burstbucker 3 and P-90H are selected via the 3 way selector switch. The piezoelectric can be activated via the MCK, blending the magnetic and piezoelectric together under a standard 1/4 guitar cable. Gibson supplies a TRS stereo cable that allows for splitting the piezo signal and the magnetic signal to 2 different amps.

The Dark Fire's tuning system uses the standard Tune-o-matic style bridge typical on other Gibson guitars, but modifications were made to have individual piezo saddles that transmit each string's pitch to a microprocessor. The microprocessor analyzes the signal, and then controls each of the Powerhead Locking Tuners. Each tuner is run by a small servo motor that works in sync with the bridge to bring the string up to pitch by altering the string's tension until hits the proper tension. The entire system is powered by a Lithium-ion Rechargeable battery housed in the control cavity of the guitar which can be charged while playing. The tuning is controled by a Master Control Knob or MCK. To tune, pull the MCK out and strum the guitar for Standard A440Hz tuning. Alternate tunings are reached by turning the Master Control Knob to different presets in the guitar by turning the MCK to a different String LED that is set with a different tuning preset. There are 18 different tuning presets on this guitar with 6 presets in 3 different tuning banks; Blue, Green, and Red. The Red Bank has low tunings like B and C, so use heavier gauge strings (e.g., .013” to .062”) for the best results. If you do change to heavy gauge strings this way, do NOT use the Green and Blue Bank presets as you may risk damage to guitar.
